Syllabus

The course deals with the main principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, public sector economics and international economics as well as the economic and regulatory policy of the state. Emphasis is placed on principles of the market economy, decision making of economic entities, economic role of the state, goals and measures of economic policy and international economics. The importance and impact of the institutional and regulatory framework of the market economy is another topic of key importance.

The purpose of the course is to introduce basic economic principles and to provide analytical instruments necessary to understand and analyze the phenomena, developments and institutions of modern economy, and thus also to understand important legal institutions used mainly in areas of commercial, corporate, financial and administrative law. The main topics covered in the course comprise

Principles and methods of economic reasoning

Decision making of economic entities, operation and structure of individual markets

Role of economic factors´ markets

Role and forms of money, importance and the role of the banking system

Economic growth and economic cycle

Goals and tools of economic policy, alternative policy schools and recommendations

International economic and financial relations

The role of the institutional and regulatory framework of the economy and its impact on economic efficiency and performance

The course deals with the main principles of microeconomics, macroeconomics, economics of the public sector and international economics as well as the economic and regulátory policy of the state. Emphasis is laid on principles of the market economy, decision making of economic subjects, economic role of the state, goals and measures of economic policy and international economics.
