These will be based on individual units of the textbook. • Completion of 2 writing tasks in due time.

IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of people who want to study or work where English is the language of communication. IELTS is recognized and accepted by over 11,000 organisations worldwide, including universities, employers, professional bodies, immigration authorities and other government agencies. Over 6 million IELTS tests were taken in 2021. There are two IELTS formats: academic and general. Our seminar will focus on IELTS ACADEMIC, shaped out for students applying for higher education or professional registration in an English speaking environment. It reflects the features of academic language and assesses whether you are ready to begin studying or any other kind of academic training.
IELTS is designed to assess English language skills across a wide range of levels. There is no such thing as a pass or fall in IELTS. Results are reported as the so-called band scores on a scale from 1 (the lowest-non user) to 9 (the highest-expert user). The goal of IELTS seminar is to provide students with the appropriate language skills to be confident enough to pass the IELTS at the level they actually are - full year course nonetheless aims to prepare students to reach IELTS bands above 6.5. IELTS Seminar is offered not just for the Law School students but for any Charles University student enrolled on a full-time basis. IELTS I should be followed in the spring term with IELTS ACADEMIC II - TEST SEMINAR. Seminars will be led by PhDr. Martin Stary, and Charles Bird, LL.M.
Course requirement for IELTS Academic I is at least B1(CEFR)/Intermediate-PET(Merit-Distinction)/FCE Cambridge level of English. Working language of the course will range from B2/Upper-intermediate-FCE to C1/Advanced-CAE. Applicants are suppossed to specify their English language level in their registration.
