This course will be an explanation of language, linguistic and communication presumptions of functioning of media discourse (with accent on terms literary Czech language, non-literary formations of Czech language, norm and codification, language style, language accuracy, language culture); difference between transmission model of communication and constitutive model of communication; text (a coherent language formation with signs of coherence - anaphoric and kataphoric, contactly or distantly used language means, which form thematic unity of the text) and discourse (a specific way of expressing something and thinking about something, which mirrors culture and knowledge of the era). Basic terms of the theory of communication: intention of the author, interpretation, consenses and differences in the "universe of the discourse" (i.e. knowledge and experience background) of the author and the recipient of the text.
Argument (on the basis of inductive and deductive thinking), elements of the argument - premise, interference, conclusion, - argumentation, polemics, public discourse, media discourse. Important representatives of Czech polemic thinking - Masaryk, Šalda - representatives of current media polemics.
Linguistic and functional characteristics of the text and its position in the process of communication.
