Annotation

Although education and theories in marketing communication (MARCOM) are often considered as worthless, and even though MARCOM students are commonly being told that only practice and real world experience matter, these opinions are not only outdated, but especially incorrect. By taking this unit, the students will be provided with a competitive advantage as they uncover the value and meaning of studying MARCOM, as well as the ways of successfully combining MARCOM education, theories and practice.

This will be done, one one hand, through facilitating a learner-centred approach, encouraging students to reflect on their own being and becoming. On the other hand, the students will also learn about MARCOM in its historical, theoretical, educational and practical contexts, whilst gaining an understanding about their own potential role as active players at all of these spheres separately as well as simultaneously.
