Annotation
The class is intended for master degree students. The main aim of the course is to make introduction into several approaches to discourse and its analysis from different angles - methodological, theoretical and philosophical view.
The emphasis is put on the terminology and important aspects of single spheres of the public communication, ranging from current pragmatical researches, semiotics questions (mainly in relation to media), introduction to a cognitive approach to the world and language, the language of media and the society and its linguistic and philosophical reflections, to problems of manipulation and argumentation. Furthermore, concrete different types of Czech and foreign discourse analysis will be presented as well as some selected trends/schools, their concepts and representatives (structuralism, poststructuralism, postmodernism; rhetorics etc.).
