The course is designed for students MA study who wish to acquire basic knowledge in understanding the role of perception and interpretation of visual communication in the history of human communication from past to the present. Practically oriented teaching will focus on significant artists, painters, graphic or sculptural works from the history of world and Czech art and clarify the key concepts of aesthetics, history and theory of art, iconology (the importance and understanding of artistic types) and iconography (the identification and significance of the displayed theme.
The interpretation also added examples of aesthetic images in film or fiction and complement basic information about foreign and domestic theoretical literature (Winckelmann, Panofsky, Gombrich, Eco, Matejcek, Mukarovsky, Volek etc.) for eventual deeper study of the issue.
