A non-compulsory preparation course, taking students to the level when they can sign for their mandatory specialized courses, focusing on building vocabulary relevant to students of social sciences, improving grammar knowledge and correct usage, and developing academic skills.
The Department of Foreign Languages offers two types of the course:
Mgr Proskova's seminars are recommended mainly for students of journalism at the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism (IKSŽ), or possibly students from the Institute of Political Studies (IPS) or the Institute of International Studies (IMS).
Mgr Gloverova's seminars are recommended for students of Czech-German Studies (CNS), International studies (IMS) and the Institute of Political Studies (IPS).
Mgr Gloverova's students are required to take a placement test organised by Jana Kunzová, B.A. (English for IMS) and Kamila Panešová ( English for PVP and PMV). The enrolment starts on 20 September 2023 at 12:00 once the results of the placement test are known.
Mgr. Proskova's group, tailor-made to journalism students, will be held on Thurdays 17-18:20 in #20 Room of the Hollar bldng. Students have been recommended this course via email, based on their Scio test results. Please check your email inbox on a regular basis prior to the registration for courses. The registration for all ASV I courses will commence on September 20th at noon.
