Mgr Prošková (Monday 9:30 - 10.50, room 108 of the Hollar building)

Current developments in society, politics, economy etc. - emphasis on building specialized vocabulary, correct grammar usage and correct pronunciation.

Grammar: conditionals, gerund and infinitive, articles, countables and uncountables, wish clauses, purpose clauses, relative clauses; pronunciation.

Academic skills development in both speaking and writing: oral presentations, debates, introduction into academic writing.

The summer term course for bachelor programmes on the upper-intermediate level serves as a non-compulsory preparation course, taking students to the level when they can sign for their mandatory specialized courses, focusing on building vocabulary relevant to students of social sciences, improving grammar knowledge and correct usage, and developing academic skills. The Language Centre offers two types of the course: Mgr Proskova's seminars are recommended for students from the Institute of Communication Studies and Journalism (IKSŽ), and Mgr Gloverova's seminars are recommended for students of Czech-German Studies (CNS), the Institute of Political Studies (IPS) and the Institute of International Studies (IMS).

Prerequisite: Successfully completed (earning credits) winter term course JLB053.
