Syllabus

1st part: pyramid of needs and communication, persuasion, types of questions and active listening, empathy and body language in communication, personality differences  2nd part: handling objections, manipulative behaviour, communication style and assertiveness, family rules

Annotation

This course will be taught in English by Mgr. Jaroslava Přerovská. It will be run in two days: 8th March and 15th March 2024 from 9:30 to 1:50 in Opletalova. In case there are more than 12 students interested, we might run the course again on the 5th April + 12th April (same time and place).

The course aims at mastering practical principles of effective communication, which are useful both in personal and professional life. On the basis of various role plays and exercises, the students will practice dealing with arguments and emotions, they will learn how to build relationships with their communication partners and how to obtain their consent. They will acquaint themselves with various types of personalities, their needs and motives and the ways of how to properly communicate with them. Individual types of questions and the context of their use, the meaning of active listening and involving empathy in the process of communication will be covered too.

The course will deal with various communication styles including assertiveness and the assertive approach to life, handling objections, recognizing manipulation and defending oneself. The stereotype mechanisms of our communication and family rules impacting them will not be missing either.
