Constitutional transformation of states in Central and Eastern Europe

Anotace

Course "Constitutional Transformation of States in Central and Eastern Europe" shall provide a detailed overview of political and constitutional transformation of the CEE countries in 1989-2006/2007. The course shall focus both at "standard" democratic changes in the political and constitutional structures (re-establishment of political parties, independence of judiciary etc.) and at specific problems of the CEE countries, such as lustration, property restitution and judicial rehabilitation.

A comparison among national approaches to specific problems will be used as key methodology; together with the analysis of the influence of the international structures (European Union, Council of Europe) on the transformation process.
