Global Politics Meets Science and Technology Studies

Class at Faculty of Social Sciences |
JPM141

Annotation

This course will be taught by Dr. Linda Monsees, Institute of International Relations, Prague (https://www.iir.cz/en/linda-monsees).

This seminar provides an insight into the role of technology for global politics. Theoretically, we focus on constructivist theories, Actor-Network Theory and the socio-technological imaginaries. In that sense the seminar offers a view into the field of science and technology studies. Empirically, we will discuss the role of digital technology for security, algorithmic governance and disinformation. Students should be interested in reading and discussing theoretical texts and good knowledge of political and social theory is an advantage.
