The course deals with the relations of the European Union and the People’s Republic of China with a primary focus on their contemporary development. It draws on students’ previous knowledge of the functioning of the Common Foreign and Security Policy of the European Union and introduces to them the foreign policy-making mechanisms of China.
Its aim is to provide a complex knowledge of how the EU’s foreign policy vis-a-vis China is formulated (and vice-versa), on what global issues the actors agree and disagree and where potential frictions as well as convergence of interests lie.
