Syllabus

Generally, we will discuss several key topics of quantitative research. Further we will focus on the possibility of intercommunication between quantitative and qualitative research.

1) Intro + organisation

2) Univariate statistics (Modus, Median, Mean, Standard Deviation) Using excel for visualization of data

3) Probability distributions, Normal Curve, z-scores

4) Statistical inference I.  - sampling - samples and populations - hypothesis testing - estimating population parameters

5) Bivariate statistics I.  - t-test, chi-test, F-test

6) Bivariate statistics II. -correlation (Pearson vs. Spearmen) - visualization (in excell/R)

7) Bivariate Regression I. - assumptions + limits - interpreting coeficcients (b0, b1, R2 etc.)

8) Bivariate regression II. - residuals (heteroscedasticity/homoscedasticity)

9) Multivariate regression

Master thesis seminar is not a classical course.

It is a course/seminar devoted to writting your thesis under supervision of your supervisor!

It is your supervisor who will decide how often you should meet!

It is your supervisor who will fill in your grade i nthe SIS.
