Sylabus
The course aims to build basic writing skills for publishing in local and international journals in the field of public policy and public administration. Students will be able to prepare the whole article or the following parts: introduction, conceptualization of research, methods and data, results and discussion to meet current publishing standards.
The course is organised as follows: 3 lectures, 3 online face-to-face tutorials and 2 online intensive research workshops with St. Andrews University.
Course requirements: attendance at the lectures, participation in the face-to-face consultations and preparation for the face-to-face consultations ( presentation of min 5 slides or two outlines of the text)
Course structureLecture 1 (24 October, 9.30-10.50) - Introduction and justification of researchFollow up to the lecture: Individual online face-to-face consultation on the topic of the lecture. The student is required to prepare a presentation or text of their own research reflecting the topic of the lecture. The dates of the consultation will be arranged individually, the consultation will last one hour.
Lecture 2 (7 November, 9.30-10.50) - Literature review and methodsFollow up to the lecture: Individual online face-to-face consultation on the topic of the lecture. The student is required to prepare a presentation or text of their own research reflecting the topic of the lecture. The dates of the consultation will be arranged individually, the consultation will last one hour.
Lecture 3 (21 November, 9.30-10.50) - Results and ConclusionFollow up to the lecture: Individual online face-to-face consultation on the topic of the lecture. The student is required to prepare a presentation or text of their own research reflecting the topic of the lecture. The dates of the consultation will be arranged individually, the consultation will last one hour.
Anotace
V rámci kurzu budou vyučovány a prakticky rozvíjeny vědomosti a dovednosti nezbytné pro psaní odborných textů ve veřejné politice a příbuzných společenskovědních oborech. Jde zejména o dovednost dobře stanovit téma práce, vymezit výzkumný problém, dobře strukturovat výzkumné sdělení, jasně a koherentně argumentovat a splnit formální nároky na takový typ prací.
