Syllabus

Only those students who already have an approved thesis project, have a supervisor and have uploaded the project in SIS apply for the seminar. They work on the project during the seminar, test the functionality of the chosen methodology and analyze the collected data. They will submit the pilot data collection and analysis in the semester's midterm. By the end of the semester, they have developed a substantial part of the thesis to a level where it is clear what the thesis has accomplished and what the collected material points to. Annotation

The Diploma Seminar prepares students for developing their own diploma thesis. The students will receive counseling in how to formulate a research question and develop a project description for their diploma thesis. They will receive insights in tools for gathering information and literature, and gives experience with academic writing techniques.

In the diploma thesis the student must demonstrate the ability to work independently in keeping with academic standards, a knowledge and understanding of the relevant scholarly literature and the ability to analyze the issue under study.

Diploma Seminar II is normally enrolled in the LS of the second year of study or as the last course in subsequent years, when students complete data collection and work on the final version of their theses. The student submits the various developed parts of the thesis and concludes the seminar when the thesis is close to being submitted for defense. In the last stages of the seminar, the finished parts of the thesis are already discussed, the methodology is tested and the conclusions of the thesis are already evident.
