Syllabus

Week 1  - Lesson 7: Where do you live? What does your house or apartment look like? Nomminative and Accusative plural. Date (ordinal numbers in the genitive case)

Week 2 – Lesson 8. We are planning a weekend. Future time The Prepositions „na, do"

Week 3 – Lesson 9 : The human body, Irregular nominative plural word forms, Personal pronouns in the dative and accusative, The prepositions "pro, za, na"

Week 4 – Lesson 10: The place where we live. Invitation. The genitive singular, Expressing direction.

 Week 5 - Lesson 11: On holiday, "Long" and "short" verbs of motion, Basic verbs of motion with the prefixes

Week 5 – Lesson 11 Travelling, Prefixes and their meaning. Prefixes při- a od-

Week 6 – Lesson 12: Cleaning. Imperfective/perfective verbs, The future tense of perfective verbs

Annotation

This course is aimed at students who wish to develop a level of competence in contemporary Czech language sufficient for communication and comprehension of A1 level according to The Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. The appropriate skills of listening comprehension, speaking, reading, and writing in Czech are covered.

The course focuses on building vocabulary and grammatical structures. Communication skills are the immediate focus of the course, and students will work toward reading, understanding and discussing simple Czech texts as the semester progresses.
