Syllabus
Main topics:
1) Western monasticism, its reforms and birth of new types of religious communities - canonical, knightly, mendicant and other orders2) Religious rules and everyday life in monasteries3) the position of women in the religious community, whether predominantly contemplative or actively active4) monastic architecture from the Middle Ages to the present The selection of excursion destinations takes place in agreement with students. Annotation
Monasteries represent an important historical and cultural phenomenon and Prague offers a unique opportunity to explore it "in situ". Approximately half of the exercises take the form of excursions to Prague monasteries.
