Syllabus
Main topics:1) Western monasticism, its reforms and the birth of new types of religious communities - canonical, knightly, mendicant and other orders2) Religious rules and everyday life in monasteries3) the position of women in the religious community, whether predominantly contemplative or actively active4) monastic architecture from the Middle Ages to the present The selection of excursion destinations is made in agreement with the students. Consultations can be conducted in Czech, Russian and English.
Annotation
Monasteries are an important historical and cultural phenomenon and Prague offers a unique opportunity to explore it "in situ". Approximately half of the exercises take the form of excursions to Prague monasteries.
