The course deals with the fundamentals, principles and criteria of theological bioethics. It reflects morally relevant issues regarding approach to life in general (e.g. suicide, the death penalty).
Further, ethical questions at the beginning of human life (e.g. moral status of the embryo, assisted reproduction, biomedical research), during human life (e.g. approach to health and disease, transplantation medicine), and at the end of human life (e.g. palliative medicine, euthanasia) will be presented and discussed. Attention will also be paid to an ethically responsible relationship to the environment and to issues of animal ethics.
