Syllabus

1) Basic concepts and history of population genetics

2) Population genetic variation I.

3) Population genetic variation I.

4) Organization of genetic variation

5) Mutations

6) Population structure

7) Small populations

8) Natural selection

Annotation

The course covers principles and applications of plant population genetics. Processes significantly influencing changes in allelic frequencies (i.e., selection, genetic drift, mutation and gene flow) will be discussed in details.

Population genetic structure, polyploidy, molecular evolution and phylogeny will be also discussed.
