I. Production of chromosome preparations from plant tissues. Observation of C bands as well as chromosome aberrations using permanent preparations
II. Excursion into laboratory of human cytogenetics. Presentation of methods of molecular cytogenetics as well as computer analysis of chromosome images
III. Production of chromosome preparation from somatic and sexual tissues of mouse. Banding of selected preparations
(C and G bands), detection of nucleolar organizer regions by silver nitrate. Observation and evaluation of preparations.
IV. Observation and evaluation of meiotic preparations(protozoans, grasshopers, spiders, mouse, human)
Practical course from cytogenetics is focused on methods of basic cytogenetics, namely production of chromosome preparations from plant and animal tissues, banding techniques, and detection of nucleolus organizer regions by silver staining. Obtained mitotic and meiotic preparations are evaluated.
Associated excursion into laboratory of human cytogenetics is focused on techniques of molecular cytogenetics as well as computer analysis of chromosome images.
