An integral part of the course is a student project aimed at simulating a real biological system.

Annotation

Modeling of biological systems is becoming an increasingly popular and important tool for understanding biological mechanisms. The interplay between experiment, theory and simulation provides insight into the dynamic behavior of complex multicomponent biological systems that cannot be easily grasped by traditional scientific approaches.

Computational approaches form the core of modeling and simulation of biological systems. The course focuses on modeling of time resolved systems techniques.

Students will learn to consider the geometry of systems and transport in space. After repeating basic mathematics and physics, students learn to model processes such as diffusion or flow and simulate them on a computer.
