Syllabus

This practical course consists of nine compulsory exercises and four further excersizes to be selected from a group. Compulsory exercises:1.    Quantitative analysis using X-ray power diffration2.    Structure analysis using single-crystal X-ray diffraction3.    Vibrational spectroscopy I. (IR + Raman)4.    NMR spectroscopy5.    Potentiometry6.    Electronic spectroscopySelectable exercises: Each student chooses four additional exercises from the below list. Venue dates are set individually after discussing with the exercise heads within one week following the introductory instruction.7.    High-temperature powder X-ray diffraction8.    Vibrational spectroscopy II. (IR + Raman microspectroscopy)9.    Magnetochemistry10.    Study of phase transitions by IR spectroscopy11.    Study of phase transitions by Raman spectroscopy12.    Thermal capacity of solid-state compounds – thermal dependence13.    Magnetic phase transitions14.    EPR spectroscopy15.    Fluorimetry16.    Application of quantum-chemical methods for studying physical and chemical properties17.    Voltammetric methods18.    Hyperthermy of magnetic nanoparticles19.    Basic ferromagnet characteristics20.    High performance liquid chromatography with mass detection

Annotation

The laboratory course is aimed at providing practical experiences and a brief survey of principles and applications of physical methods used in inorganic chemistry.

The course is designed for Master and PhD students.
