Class at Faculty of Science |
MC240P28

Syllabus

The course is divided into following parts: - design of infrared spectrophotometers - dispersive and FTIR; - sample handling in infrared spectroscopy, conventional and reflectance techniques (ATR, DRIFTS, RAIRS, specular reflectance), infrared microspectroscopy and microscopy, photoacoustic spectroscopy, MID and NIR spectroscopy, hyphenated techniques, etc.; - design of Raman spectrophotometers, sample handling in Raman spectroscopy; - resonance Raman techniques (RRS, SERS, SERRS); - IR and Raman imaging - non-linear Raman spectroscopy techniques (CSRS, SRGS, IRS, CARS); - interpretation of vibrational spectra of crystals, site group analysis, factor group analysis, etc.; - selected applications of vibrational spectroscopy.

Annotation

This is an advanced course concerning vibrational spectroscopy. The main emphasis is focused on the design of modern instrumentation and the practical techniques of sample handling, data handling and interpretation of infrared and Raman spectra.

The course is intended for Master and PhD students.
