Lasers and their features. Fundamental principles of lasers.

Types of lasers – specification, features and their application.

The methods of linear spectroscopy: absorption spectroscopy, fundamental principles and application, laser diode spectroscopy, cavity ring down spectroscopy.Optoacoustic spectroscopy – principles and application.Laser induced fluorescence, principles, detection.Raman spectroscopy, principle.

Nonlinear methods: saturation sub- Doppler spectroscopy, principle.Lamb dip spectroscopy. Two photon spectroscopy, principles.Multiphoton and multiquantum processes, ionization, dissociation.CARS (Coherent Antistokes Raman Spectroscopy), fundamental principles.

Special methods of laser spectroscopy:Time resolved spectroscopy, laser induced absorption.Methods of remote sensing, LIDAR, examples of remote sensing techniques for detection of atmospheric pollutants.
