Systematic chemistry of elements: Main group elements. Elements of the Groups 1, 2, 13 and 14. Transition elements and coordination compounds.
Ligand Field Theory. Systematic chemistry of the transition metals.
Lanthanides and actinides. Some special topics. Catalysis, organometalic compounds, metal ions in biological environments.
This lecture course follows the winter semester course Inorganic Chemistry I (a) and is intended for students of chemistry study programs. The topics covered are systematic inorganic chemistry with main emphasis on the properties, reactivity patterns and practical applications of Group 1, 2, 13 and 14 elements, transition metals, lanthanides and actinides. Attention is also paid to the fundamentals of coordination chemistry, catalysis with transition metal compounds, organometallic chemistry and the role of the selected elements in living systems.
The exam is combined - written test plus oral examination. The prerequisite for the exam is a credit from the seminar associated with this lecture.
