- Introduction. Goals of studies. Good laboratory practice. Safety in laboratory. Basic principles of inorganic synthesis - filtration, centrifugation, pH measurement

- Basic principles of inorganic synthesis - crystallization, preparation of a crystal material, autoclaves, X-ray diffraction

- Basic principles of organic synthesis - crystallization, distillation, determination of melting points

- Basic principles of organic synthesis - preparation of compounds, which will be characterized by different methods

- Synthesis of golden nanoparticles and their characterization by TEM

- Characterization of golden nanoparticles in solution (hydrodynamic radius, electrophoretic mobility) by ZetaSizer and UV-Vis spectroscopy

- Basic principles of organic synthesis - column separation of natural compounds

- Calorimetry

- Liquid NMR - measurement and determination of structure of compounds prepared ad 4) and 6)

- FTIR Spectroscopy - preparation of samples - KBr, self-supporting wafers methods, determination of acidity of sample prepared ad 2)

- Catalytic experiment - samples prepared ad 2) quick experiment in a liquid phase followed by gas chromatography and GC/MS

- Electrochemical methods - Potentiometry, Voltammetry

The course Chemistry Laboratory aims to provide a general introduction to the practical aspects of methods in chemical laboratory.

The students should get a knowledge on basis of organic and inorganic synthesis including crystallization, distillation, or pH measurement. Introduction to diffraction methods, microscopy, spectroscopy, nuclear magnetic resonance, separation methods including chromatography, and electrochemical methods will be provided.
