1) Introduction to chemistry of alkaloids (history, isolation, structure, natural sources, biosynthesis, synthesis)

2) Alkaloids derived from ornithin

3) Alkaloids derived from lysine

4) Alkaloids  derived from nicotinic acid

5) Alkaloids derived from anthranilic acid

6) Alkaloids derived from phenylalanine

7) Alkaloids derived from tryptophan

8) Alkaloids derived from polyketides

9) Alkaloids derived from histidine

10) Alkaloids derived from oligoamines

11) Alkaloids derived from terpenoids

12) Alkaloids derived from steroids

13) Further alkaloids (from marine organisms, from tropical frogs)

Annotation

The course deals with the chemistry of nitrogen-metabolites

- the alkaloids are divided on the basis of the biogenesis;

- each group includes typical representative members, their structure, chemical transformations, biosynthesis, biological effects, ...

- synthesis, especially total synthesis is the principal topic to be discussed within each group;

- biomimetic approaches, if existing, are discussed preferentially
