Annotation
The initiation to the elementary methods used in demographic analysis. Exemples are provided for developed countries, the Czech Republic and to some extent for developing world.
Main trends and patterns are highlighted. Lexis diagram and classification of rates in demography.
Mortality analysis - data sources, direct and indirect standardization techniques, life table and its calculation including applications for specific populations, prenatal and infant mortality, spontaneous abortion rates, neonatal, postneonatal and perinatal rates, study of causes of deaths, multiple-decrement tables, differential mortality. Morbidity analysis - incidence and prevalence rates.
