Syllabus

Introduction. Physical theory and its mathematical model. The relationship between theory and experiment. The physicist's approach to the application of his knowledge to real problems.

Mechanics. Coordinate systems. Speed, acceleration. Momentum, angular momentum, force, moment of force, moment of inertia, kinetic and potential energy. Laws of conservation of these quantities. Newton's gravity law. Oscillations and waves.

Electricity and magnetism. Coulomb's law. Charge, intensity and electric and magnetic fields. Induction, electric current.

Optics. Light wave and light beam, interference and diffraction. Optical instruments, microscopy.

Annotation

Basic course of physics for biologists. Main concepts and ideas. Applications in biology.
