Isotopes in environment

Class at Faculty of Science |
MG431P37

Syllabus

The course focuses on various applications of environmental isotopes. An outline of biogeochemistry of stable isotopes of sulfur, nitrogen, carbon and oxygen is given.

In all, three different areas of research are covered: natural-abundance and artificial isotopes as tracers of environmental pollution, isotope mass balances in global change studies, and the role of isotopes in forest ecosystems, aerated soils and wetlands. Lead isotopes as tracers of pollution will represent radiogenic isotopes of heavy elements.
