1. History of mining
2. Geological exploration boreholes (drilling types, drilling rig and its parts, drilling mode, drilling core documentation)
3. Light mining work (trenches, notches, surface exposures, exploration shafts, their deployment and documentation.)
4. Exploratory mining works (mining terms, types of exploration mining works.)
5. Opening and classification of bearings (opening works, classification and preparatory works.)
6. Mining methods, their choice, examples of face methods for ores and coal
7. Foundation of excavated space
8. Reinforcement, drainage, ventilation and lighting of mine workings.
9. Mining transport.
10. Rock blasting (boreholes and drilling diagrams, types of mines, distribution of explosives.)
11. Open-pit mining.
12. Introduction to milling (milling terms, crushing and grinding, sorting, separating, flotation, tailings ponds.) At the end of the course, excursions to active mining operations or other interesting active mining projects are organized. Assesment methods and criteria linked to learning outcomes: Course-unit credit is conditional on elaboration of open-pit mining project for brown coal (calculation of reserves and overburden coefficient, opener, choice of mining and transport method, deployment of mining machines, calculation of bearing life and evaluation of economic parameters of mining).
In this course go through following things: Mining History, Exploration Boring, Exploration Works and its Documentation, Opening of Mines, Shaft Sinking, Mine Articulation, Underground Mining Methods, Mining Machines, Trafic, Explosives, Blasting Rock, Drill Rounds, Timbering Works, Mine Drainage, Illumination and Ventilation, Open-pit Mining, Milling.
