Annotation

The undergraduate course in structural geology. During the course the students will acquire basic skills in describing and interpreting geological structures of all scales.

The students will become familiar with the interplay between kinematic and dynamic approach in structural geology. The basics of quantitative approach in structural geology rely on the use of basic mathematics and physics which will be taught/practiced throughout the semester.

The calculation skills as a fundamental tool in structural geology will cover the use of matrices and tensors and basic equations in continuum mechanics. Stress and strain calculations are followed by rheology/viscosity and their application towards understanding of formation of geological structures.
