Dynamic Engineering Geology

Class at Faculty of Science |
MG451P63

Syllabus

1. Introduction to Dynamic EG, basic terms, requirements for completing the course, assignment of seminar work

2. Geodynamic processes as a limiting factor of the natural environment (slope movements, tectonics, weathering, rock volume changes)

3. Current movements of the Earth's crust

4. Discontinuous failure of rock mass (fractures, cracks)

5. Current tectonic movements, identification of faults, earthquakes in the Czech Republic and Europe; TECNET network for research of slow movements at fractures

6. Landslides: factors and conditions of origin, types, classification, identification and mapping

7. Landslide susceptibility, hazard and risk

8. Landslide monitoring

9. Landslide management and mitigation

Annotation

Geodynamic processes, especially landslide, tectonic movements, weathering and rock volume changes are limiting factors of the natural environment. The main emphasis of this course is on a deeper understanding of recent tectonic movements and slope processes, including solving possible problems.

At the end of the course there is a field excursion to the current locality of interest.
