Syllabus
1. Úvod: historie a filozofická východiska ochrany přírody (aneb proč vlastně přírodu chráníme)
2. Biogeografie a vývoj přírody (jak současná příroda vypadá v historickém kontextu a co z toho plyne pro její ochranu)
3. Ekologické základy ochrany přírody: druhy, jejich vznik, zánik a rozmanitost
4. Ekologické základy ochrany přírody: početnost a rozšíření organismů
5. Ohrožující faktory: úbytek, fragmentace a snižování kvality biotopů
6. Ohrožující faktory: klimatická změna, pronásledování, invaze
7. Obecné principy praktické ochrany přírody (aneb jak se vlastně příroda chrání)
8. Druhová ochrana (které druhy potřebují ochranu a jak jim ji zajistit)
9. Ochrana bezlesích biotopů (která nelesní prostředí máme chránit a jak se to dělá)
10. Ochrana lesních biotopů (která lesní prostředí máme chránit a jak se to dělá)
11. Mezinárodní ochrana přírody: mezinárodní instituce, úmluvy a nástroje
Annotation
The bachelor lecture takes the students to the introduction of nature protection. First, nature conservation is descrubed in the broader scientific and social framework and the major milestones of its history are discussed.
Further, we will discuss relevant knowledge from the areas of ecology, geology, paleoecology and biogeography and we will introduce the main factors threatening biodiversity in the world and in the Czech Republic. Then we will focus on the most important approaches to nature conservation and its practical functioning.
The legislative block introduces students with the application of the law on nature protection in the Czech Republic, and its comparison with similar regulations abroad. Finally, students will learn about international nature conservation: networks of protected areas, important conventions and other regulations.
Part of the course is presentation and defense of individual work.
