The lecture is focused on the issue of municipal solid waste management, its disposal and possibilities of its utilization. It acquaints students with the main types of waste (consumption waste - municipal waste, packaging, automobile transport waste, medical waste, gastro-waste; hazardous waste), waste management hierarchy (waste prevention, preparation for re-use, circular economy), waste recycling (management of sorted waste components, composting), energy using of waste (thermal processes, conversion of biowaste into biogas), waste disposal (combustion, landfilling), biodegradable waste.
Waste legislation and the issue of old environmental loads, including an overview of remediation technologies.
