Annotation

The program focuses on the basics of clinical and experimental immunology. Lectures provide a broad basis of modern immunology; Emphasis is placed on molecular and cellular principles of immune system functioning.

The role of individual immune mechanisms in defense against various pathogens, in antitumor defense and disorders of immune mechanisms (autoimmunity, allergy, immunodeficiency) is discussed. Emphasis is placed on (1) the molecular mechanisms of the function of immunoreceptors, adhesion molecules, cytokines and MHC proteins and (2) elucidation of the principles of a number of basic methods used in molecular immunology.
