RESEARCH METHODS AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The class, for graduate students, discusses two major themes: (1) the research methods used by geographers studying topics at local, regional and international scales in human and physical geography and (2) preparing for careers in geography with a focus on research methods, preparing research for publications and the publication of results in scholarly journals. Students will be asked to engage in some mini-research projects as members of small groups (two or three students); they will also present their major findings to the class. It is possible that some projects may lead to publication.
