Applications of non-equilibrium plasmas in the medical field

Class at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
NBCM139

Syllabus

1) Overview and characterisation of plasma sources used in different biomedical applications.

2) Survey of possible plasma interactions with surfaces of organic matters.

3) Description and application of plasma discharges on gas-liquid interfaces or discharges sustained in liquids.

4) Application of plasma for sterilization and decontamination of surfaces

5) Plasma for clinical diagnosis

6) Plasma medicine

7) Preparation and modification of surfaces for biomedical applications

Annotation

In the course of this lecture are going to be presented actual topics connected with possible applications of non-equilibrium plasmas in the medical field. The lecture is focused both on the description of possible interactions of plasma with diverse biological systems with an emphasis given to the sterilization of surfaces and therapeutic capabilities of plasma, and on the fabrication of bio-functional surfaces.
