Class at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
NBCM147

Syllabus

1. Introduction to soft matter

2. Ideal chain approximation

3. Ideal thin membrane

4. Interaction of uncharged membranes and proteins

5. Interaction of charged membranes and proteins

6. Towards realistic interactions of membranes and proteins

7. Thermodynamic principles of self-assembly

8. Langmuir adsorption

9. Transport phenomena

10. Advanced Monte Carlo

Annotation

The course is focused on basic knowledge of interactions of proteins and membranes at coarse-grained level. It covers also development of appropriate soft matter models, their approximations and limitations.

At the end, few advanced methods of Monte Carlo simulations that are often used in this field are described.
