3. Application of variational calculus in the calculation of atomic and molecular spectra

5. Introduction to perturbation theory

6. Solving time-dependent problems

7. Angular momentum, coupling of momenta

8. Russell-Saunders and jj coupling, Hund's cases

9. Examples of the different types of diatomic molecules spectra

10. Manifestations of external fields in atomic and molecular spectra

11. Solution of selected problems of chemical physics

12. Other problems with overlap in the physics of solids, surfaces and plasma.

Annotation

Solution of model problems in atomic and molecular physics. The student will learn to apply variation and perturbation methods to real physical systems.

Special attention will be paid to the molecular momenta, their coupling and the related breakdown into individual Hund’s cases.

Intended for physics students, especially in the 1st year of master's study, as well as other candidates from higher grades.
