Different approaches to learning and teaching: behaviorism, transmission of knowledge, discovery learning, constructivist approach. Constructivism - a fashionable term or useful paradigm? Preconcepts in learning, typical preconcepts in physics.

Radical and social constructivism, development of constructivist approach.

Cognitive development of pupils, attempts to accelerate cognitive development.

Context-based approach to teaching science.

Language and types of communications in science education, role of pupils' discussions.

Practical work and projects - a development of opinions on their role and effectivity.

Technology (mainly ICT) in physics education.

Students' attitudes to physics and school physics, motivation.

Why to teach physics. (Different answers, their critical reflection and what results from it.)

The role of teachers in development of physics education.

Optional seminar presenting selected theoretical approaches and results in the area of physics education research and science education research and connected aims and trends in educational practice at schools.
