- Basic structure of the stratosphere and mesosphere

- Temperature, geopotential and wind fields in the stratosphere and mesosphere and their seasonal differences.

- Seasonal features of circulation in the lower stratosphere, sudden warmings in the stratosphere and their impact on stratospheric and mesospheric processes, possible mechanisms of sudden stratospheric warmings.

- Ozone and water vapour and their role in the stratosphere and mesosphere.

- Stratosphere-troposphere exchange - principal role of tropical region, Brewer-Dobson circulation.

- Role of waves (planetary, gravity and tidal waves) in the stratosphere-mesosphere system.

- Long-term trends in the stratosphere and mesosphere, particularly in ozone content and temperature, their origin (anthropogenic ozone depletion, greenhouse cooling - yes, cooling), and impact on climate.
