Syllabus

1. Student learning Student´s learning, its foundations, prerequisites and conditions. Extrinsic and intrinsic student motivation. Learning styles of students. Mastery of key competencies. Students with special education needs and the possibility of their integration into mainstream education programmes. Students achievement and school success. Social aspects of education and the ways to foster the social cohesion within the school.

2. Teacher as a social partner Teacher personality, typology, teaching style, the roles of teacher and their change over the time, teaching profession, teachers´ authority. Social skills of teacher. Teacher trainning and development. Teacher competencies. Mistakes of beginning teachers. Psychological aspects of cooperation with family. Social interaction between teacher and pupils. Planning for Instructions.

3. Goals, Aims and Objectives in Education. Cognitive and affective objectives in science and mathematics education. Knowledge, skills and competencies. Taxonomies of educational objectives. The use of objectives in a work of teacher and student. The relationship between the objectives and the outcomes of education. Goals, aimes and objectives in the official curricular documents. Mathematics and science literacy (numeracy).

4. Content of education Culture, science, technology and art. Content and its structure. Curricular transfer, Framework Educational Programmes (FEP), School Educational Programmes (SEP). Curricular documents, Lesson plan, Textbooks, Teacher methodic quides, the use of other relevant educational literature. Standards of education. Initiatives for content modernization: structuralism, exemplar approach, basic (core) content. Cross-curricular planning, integrated science.

The content of the course is especially oriented to learning and instruction in mathematics and physics at secondary schools.
