Teaching methods and the possible forms of organizing for instruction.
Tacit pedagogical knowledge: intuition and imitation. Classification of teaching methods. Lessons and lesson´s phases. Effective teaching strategies for fostering students learning and their implementation in classroom. Problem-solving, problem-oriented teaching, project methods, cooperative learning, heuristic teaching, discussion, team-teaching, role playing, etc. Didactic and standardised tests. Students assessment, marking (grading AmE) and verbal assessment, students´ self-evaluation. Organization forms of instruction, classroom management. Whole-class teaching, group work, and individualized instructions. The possible responses to diversity in the classroom (differentiated classroom).
The use of new information technologies for instruction: distance-learning, multimedia.
Open-teaching, inclusive education and constructivist approach.
Educational system.
Types of schools, Czech educational system, Czech School Inspection and school evaluation. Home-schooling (home-education), innovative schools ? examples and characteristics. ISCED (International Standard Classification of Education), International research projects in education (PISA, TIMSS, etc.), chatracteristics of educational systems in several foreign countries. Recent trends in educational policy, decentralization and school autonomy.
The seminars of the course are oriented to practical training of teacher activities (planning and realization of a lesson; teacher speaking skills; traditionalism and alternative styles of teaching and education; diagnostics of student outcomes etc.).
The content of the course is especially oriented to learning and instruction in mathematics and physics at secondary schools.
