This course introduces the concepts behind, and the technicalities of, shader-based appearance modelling.
The main focus of the lecture is the RenderMan approach to shading, with some comparisons to real-time shading languages. The practical part of the course will use an open source RenderMan renderer to let students gain hands-on experience with such a system.
The topic of this lecture is usage of software shaders in realistic rendering (RenderMan-style).
