Class at Faculty of Mathematics and Physics |
NTMF028

Syllabus

* Radiation (magneto)hydrodynamics: kinetic formulation of radiation transfer, radiation pressure, stellar winds and accretion, shock waves, equations of state in astrophysics.

* Plasma astrophysics: magnetic structures in the stellar atmospheres, magnetic reconnection, plasma mechanism of radiation, beams and beam instability, the plasma particle modeling, examples of application: solar flares and solar radioastronomy.

* General-relativistic kinetic theory: geometry of phase space, mass shell, Liouville theorem, general-relativistic (magneto-) hydrodynamics.

Annotation

Basic concepts and processes of classical and relativistic plasma astrophysics, their description and numerical modeling.

Designed for 1st and 2nd year students of the master's degree and doctoral students in the field of theoretical physics, astronomy and astrophysics.
