Practical Language V

Syllabus

The course will cover 5 areas, with each part counting for 20% of the final assessment, as follows:

1.      Speaking.  The will include practice in discussions, in-depth conversations and in giving a talk to a group of people.

2.      Listening.

3.      Reading.

4.      Writing. Four essays will be assigned in total during the semester. The purpose will be to develop, with each essay, well-structured and coherent written expression, using a range of grammatical functions and varied vocabulary.

5.      Use of English. This will include grammatical structures and vocabulary dealt with in the two chosen units (units 9 and 10 - Insight Intermediate).

Annotation

The main focus of the 5th and 6th semesters is on fluent and accurate use of all components of language elements. Students enrich their vocabulary and reinforce their knowledge of grammatical structures on an advanced level.

Special emphasis is put on the further development of their multicultural and social awareness.
