8) nature and placement of word stress; vowel reduction

9) stress placement in complex words

10) stress placement in compound words; stress shift

Annotation

The aim of the course is to continue developing pronunciation and transcription skills. From the theoretical point of view the course aims at explaining and clarifying the role of assimilation, elision and liaison which these processes play in connected speech.

The attention is further given to suprasegmental features, particularly word stress and its placement in bisyllabic, polysyllabic and compound words.
