WEEK 1

- Introduction into theory - Using documentary film in education

- Introduction to interactive methodology and experiential games

- Topic: Personality and social education

- Main themes: interpersonal relations, values, ethics

- Practical examples of work with film

WEEK 2

- Topic 1: Learning to think in european and global context

- Millenium Development Goals (MDGs)

- Main themes: UN plan to achieve MDGs, its targets and indicators, global and local interconnections

- Practical examples of work with film

- Topic 2: Environmental education

- Main themes: climate change, waste management, carbon footprint, sustainable development

- Practical examples of work with film

WEEK 3

- Topic: Media education

- Main themes: media literacy, media education, media message, gender and media

- Practical examples of work with film

- Student-lead model lessons

WEEK 4

- Topic: Multicultural education

- Main themes: controversial topics, racism, stereotypes, discrimination, multicultural vs. intercultural, accepting differences, ethical origin

- Student-lead model lessons

WEEK 5

- Topic: Education of the democratic citizen

- Main themes: undemocratic regimes, propaganda, political trials, holocaust, UN Human Rights Resolution, civic participation

- Practical examples of work with film

Annotation

This course is focused on practical examples and effective use of documetnary film and other audiovisual materials in education. The course will introduce the teaching of cross-curricula issues through documentary films, interactive methodology and experiential games. Students will gain practical as well as theoretical knowledge. Students will have opportunity to examine practically, how to work with documetnary film and social spots in classrooms. The students will learn about issues such as Development Millenium Goals, racism, undemocratic regimes, the influence of media, the environment, etc.

The cource is leaded in cooperation with the lectors of NGO People in need.
